Help me, before I judge again…

Buddies…I have yet another confession to make. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, I consider myself a true liberal. I hold no judgement for anyone regardless of their race, creed, lifestyle, or economic status. I truly subscribe to the therory of ‘ live and let live’…..but… I have to confess that I do look down on some members of our society.  My name is Erika and  I am a Christmas Decoration Bigot…

rn

I am a firm believer in a monochromatic theme. While I prefer a simple strand of white lights…be they of the twinkle or standard variety. I can even tolerate the combonation of red and green. As I look out my window this evening my eyes are visually assaulted by the multi-colored, slap dash chaos that is my neighborhood. There is a home with in a stone’s throw of mine that could only be made more tacky by an amplified rendition of dogs barking ” Jingle Bells”.

rn

While I hate this judgemental side of me, and I struggle to suppress it, I find myself with this over whelming urge to right the wrongs committed by my brethern and commit a stealth attack of re-decoration under the cover of darkness.

rn

I know that some of you are questioning my position on this topic as hypocryitical, being that I own both an inflatable snow globe and carosel, as well as the 8ft tall Grinch. But I assure you that they are stategically placed about my home and look very cute. So much so that people have stopped me at our local grocery store to compliment me on our decorations. ( very small town )

rn

All that I am saying is that if you run out of red and white icicle lights, buy more… DO NOT fill up the extra gutter space with flashing blue ones…Is anybody else with me?

Oh, you would hate me!!!  One year my 7 ft. Christmas tree was covered with over 2500 BLUE lights!!  They weren’t the twinkly variety.  They were steady glowing.  But they were all blue.  And actually, it was quite pretty.

But I do like a yard decorated in all white lights.

Tree  Candy Cane 2 Yes, Erika, I’m with you on this! Although I do like colored light on my tree I like it to be tastefully done. Like Carrie, I wish you could come talk to my husband! Tangled LightsHe goes nuts with lights and does things with the outside lights that drive me nuts! Xmas LightsI do the inside the way I like but he does the outside.

    Have a good day!

That’s too funny and I”m with you.  I love white lights outside.  But this year I didn’t have enough white lights and money is tight so we can’t buy more so I decided to skip lighting the little bushes up then my mom called and said they have a lot of extra COLORED lights left over and do I want them.  I decided to say yes and I did the bushes in colored lights (not blue) LOL it’s tastefully done and looks nice but I still would opt for just white lights.

If you decide to go “take care of their lights” in the dark LOL please video tape it and share it with us.

    Okay…First of all…I gotta tell you…

You are a freakin RIOT!!! I LOVE READING your blogs and I love your sense of humor!!!!

I was prepared for a very deep discusion about Liberals vs. Democrats or something, and what I got was CHRISTMAS LIGHTS?!?!?!

Secon, I stole your LIPS…I had no idea we had BACKGROUNDS…YAY! I love the lips BABY!!!

Third, my husband and I feel the same way, so you are NOT ALONE…I dont even so much mind colored lights anymore as long as they are done WELL…

If you are outlining your house, outline your entire house people. DOnt stop in the middle cause you ran out of lights!!!! If you are covering a tree, cover the WHOLE tree, dont just do a limb and call it quits!!

And WHAT is with the multi colored icicle lights this year? Have you EVER seen a multi colored icicle????

    Thank you for the laugh!

    Dawnie

No, not this time, I am not with you on this one…while I find your blog incredibly humorous, and as much as I can relate (oh God, I can relate to your feelings and thought process), I think it’s insane….and I would be telling myself so, if my neighbor’s were doing the same annoying thing!  LOL!  Anyhow, I truly enjoyed your blog and no worries, just because I don’t agree with you THIS ONE time, doesn’t mean I have stopped thinking what a wonderful person you are, albait a little crazy, but absolutely wonderful!!

No kidding pick a theme and stick with it.  If  you’re gonna have multiple themes use them far far away from each other.  Maybe they should start a mandatory class you have to take before you get permission to decorate any visible part of your house:  Christmas Decor 101.  Take it and pass with flying colors, coordinated of course, before receiving your licencse to decorate and not offend the senses.

I thinks it’s personal preference. For me,as soon as we have a house, NO BLOW UP DECORATIONS! They are gaudy,at least I think so.I like lights, but like you, a theme has to be surrounding it.An elegant display, although not flashy,is good for me. If I see one more blow up Santa.EEsh!

I am really and truly laughing out loud !! Love it, I honestly see this everywhere not to mention I live in the littlest but BIG redneck town so you can only imagine they’re actually lighting their own lawnmowers. LOL!!
