A face for confessions?

Good morning Buddies. I am feeling the after-effects of my new more active lifestyle.

rn

Instead of the treadmill, I decided to get my exercise in by walking to run errands in town yesterday, and playing with Logan at the park.

rn

I had planned on only being there for 45 min, and we ended up staying for almost 3 hours. Running, jumping, climbing, and chasing a soccer ball…I am suprisingly sore and sunburnt.

rn

I must just have a face that makes people feel they can talk to me. While we were at the park, 3 different women felt compelled to tell me their life stories, and all three ended the conversation by saying something to the effect of  ‘ I don’t know why I am telling you all of this, but you seem like someone I can trust. ‘

rn

One woman was recounting how she lost custody of her 4 yr old daughter last year because of her hard drug use, she’s been clean and sober for 7 mo. and now has had her daughter back.

rn

Another told me all about her estrangement from her father and a good part of her family due to her inter-racial relationship. How insane is that one?

rn

Then there was the woman who told the story of how her marriage is on the brink of divorce because of her infidelity with a family friend.

rn

I started to feel like Lucy from the Peanuts, in her Psychology Stand with the 5 cent sign. Oh well, I guess the just needed someone to talk to. I wonder if they will be waiting for me today, as everyone of them asked me if we come there often.

rn

The soon to be divored lady told me that I seemed very wise for my age..she thought I was only 25! ( I’ll be 35 this August ) That was fun to hear, although being that she ’s pretty much destroyed her marriage because of bad choices, her judgement may be a little off. But I’ll take it!

rn

Due to the nice weather, the kids have opted to walk to school today instead of taking the bus. It’s about 2 miles round trip. I think they are only in it for the promised trip to the local bakery for breakfast on the way…. not so much the exercise.

rn

Don’t worry, I will only be paying for the doughnuts, not eating them.

rn

Due to our extended play time yesterday, I have fallen behind schedule with the bathroom, but it was worth it. Logan made some new friends, and we needed that “just us” time.

rn

Once we get home it is back to work, my house is a disaster area and the laundry is very close to causing an avalanche down the steps.

rn

Be well Buddies!

Isn\’t it fun to play!! As adults we are so concerned about getting a workout in that you lose sight of the fact the just plain ol\’ playing counts! And its so much more fun!!! Doesn\’t it make you feel so grateful for what you have in your life! A great family, friends and you’re alive!!!!

Maybe it is not so good to be listening to people “spill”, they need to go for therapy.  Once in awhile you may listen to someone who needs you to listen, but it may not be good for them or you to continually hear negative things.  They may leave feeling wonderful, but you may be feeling loaded down with too much information.

Listening to negativity is draining; save your listening for special people, not everyone.

    Take care Erica.

I can see why people approach you.  I’m guilty of that.    I think sometimes as women we just need to share or vent and if someone friendly happens upon us, we just say what we feel in the moment.  I’m so glad you had fun with Logan.  That’s very important.  Take care of the sunburns.

What a terrific way to spend your day yesterday and a bonus that you got so much exercise in having fun.

You are obviously a good listener.  I don’t think it hurts at all to hear stories like that I think if anything it makes you realize how great your life is and how lucky you are.

Keep up the great work Erica

Well what a great active day you had! My my Lucy how much money did you make in you help booth?   Well you asked me about the Secret DVD - I loved it. I usually think positive anyways but put a different spin on things. Have a great day!

    What a busy day!

And about the strangers spilling their guts to you…gosh, I don’t know what to say!  I do know you should be careful handing out advice to strangers ( if you even did).  But if you can listen to it without it tainting you or bringing you down, then I don’t see any harm in it.  Sometimes a person just has to talk.  And if they find someone who will just listen, it could help them see things more clearly.  We kinda do the same thing here…pouring our hearts out for anybody who logs on to read.  And I know it helps me to get it all out.

I love it when people tell me the stories of their lives.  It gives me an appreciation for myown and it’s a window at the fact that the grass isn’t always greener.  It also gives you a sense of being a good person, a trustworthy person.

Glad you and Logan had a great time!!  And Erika, I am proud of you for your commitment and follow through on the exercise!! WTGG!
